California Child Support Calculator

Estimate California child support using a narrow 2024-only guideline path built around parenting time, filing status, income, and common deductions already being paid.

California 2024 guideline inputs

California is more tax-sensitive than Texas or Florida, so this page uses filing status, income buckets, parenting time, and a narrow set of deduction fields. The scope is fixed to the 2024 new-guideline path.

Page scope

2024 new SB 343 guideline core path only

This page does not include hardship, add-ons, temporary spousal support, arrears, or the parents-living-together special path.

This page is an estimate only. It mirrors a narrow California 2024 SB 343 core path and public official references, but it is not a certified court calculator and it does not include add-ons, hardship, temporary spousal support, or arrears.

How this California estimate works

This page intentionally implements a narrow California core path instead of claiming to reproduce the entire public calculator.

1. Estimate each parent's net disposable income
The page starts with taxable and non-taxable monthly income, then applies filing-status-based tax assumptions plus common deductions such as union dues, mandatory retirement, health premiums, and support already being paid.
2. Apply the high-earner and timeshare formula
The higher earner, the total net disposable income, and the higher earner's parenting-time share are used in the California guideline-style formula before the child-count multiplier is applied.
3. Show a low-income range when the threshold is triggered
If the paying parent's gross monthly income falls below the 2024 full-time California minimum-wage threshold, the page shows a low-income adjustment range instead of a single false-precision number.

Important California notes

Important California notes

This page is fixed to tax year 2024 and the new SB 343 guideline path.

This page is intentionally narrower than the public California calculator and does not include hardship, add-ons, temporary spousal support, or arrears.

Tax handling here is limited to filing status, standard deductions, common payroll taxes, and a small set of direct deduction fields shown on the page.

The public California calculator page currently carries a decertified warning related to later tax-law changes, so this page is clearly framed as an estimate only.

Court or commissioner review still has final authority.

California child support FAQ

Why is this California page narrower than the public California calculator?
Because the public California calculator covers many more sections, including hardship, add-ons, temporary spousal support, and other special paths. This page freezes the scope to a defensible 2024 new-guideline core path instead of pretending to support everything.
Why does this page say 2024 only?
Because the public California calculator and user guide expose year-sensitive behavior, and the public calculator currently warns that later tax-law changes are not yet reflected. This page avoids claiming support for 2025 and beyond.
Does this California estimate include add-ons or hardship children?
No. This first California version excludes add-ons, hardship children, temporary spousal support, prior-period arrears, and other special paths.
Why can the result become a range instead of one number?
When the low-income threshold is triggered, California guidance becomes less suitable for a single false-precision result. This page surfaces a range to make that boundary explicit.
Is this the official California child support calculator?
No. It is an estimate page based on California public references and a narrow 2024-only core path. The court or commissioner has final authority.
