Love Calculator

Type two names to get a love percentage, or switch to the classic FLAMES game. The same pair of names always gives the same result.

Enter two names
Names only — no birthdate, no zodiac sign. Results are the same every time for the same pair.

Names are calculated in your browser only — nothing is stored or sent anywhere.

Switching mode recalculates instantly using the same two names.

Love percentage

Add both names to reveal your result

Once both names are filled in, your love percentage or FLAMES result appears here.

For entertainment only

This tool has no scientific basis. It runs a deterministic name-based formula (and, in FLAMES mode, a classic letter-elimination game) purely for fun. It cannot predict, measure, or verify real compatibility, and should never guide real relationship decisions.

No secret formula

How this calculator actually works

Unlike calculators that call their method a 'secret formula,' here's exactly what happens under the hood for both modes.

1. Names are normalized
Both names are lowercased, accents are stripped, and non-letter characters are removed, so "María" and "MARIA" always match.
2. Percentage mode hashes the pair
The normalized names are combined and run through a deterministic string hash, then reduced to a 0–100 range. Same pair in, same percentage out — every time.
3. FLAMES mode plays the classic elimination game
Shared letters between the two names are cancelled out one by one. The count of letters left over is used to circularly eliminate F-L-A-M-E-S until a single letter remains: Friends, Lovers, Affectionate, Marriage, Enemy, or Siblings.

Where FLAMES and love calculators come from

FLAMES is a pen-and-paper name game that predates the internet by decades — generations of students played it by hand before it ever became a website.

The acronym stands for Friends, Lovers, Affectionate, Marriage, Enemy, Siblings — six possible "outcomes" for any pair of names.

Online love calculators became popular in the early web era as one of the first viral 'just for fun' tools, long before quizzes and personality tests took over social feeds.

Every love calculator, including this one, is a fixed formula rather than a measurement — the fun is in the reveal, not in any predictive power.

Love calculator FAQ

Is the love calculator 100% accurate?
No. Like every love calculator, this is for entertainment only — no name-based tool can be "100% accurate" about real compatibility. Treat the percentage as a fun icebreaker, not a verdict.
How does a love calculator work by name?
This calculator normalizes both names (lowercase, accents stripped), then runs a deterministic hash-based formula on the pair to produce a 0–100 percentage plus a compatibility breakdown. There's no randomness — the same two names always produce the same result.
Can I calculate love by date of birth instead of just names?
Not on this page — this calculator works from names only. A birthdate-based mode (with zodiac-style matching) is a possible future addition, not part of this tool today.
Is this a love calculator game like the ones on Poki or CrazyGames?
No. Sites like Poki or CrazyGames host love-tester arcade games with sliders, meters, or mini-games. This page is a calculator: enter two names and get a deterministic result instantly, with no gameplay involved.
What is the FLAMES love test?
FLAMES is a classic name-based game that predates the internet. It cancels out shared letters between two names, then eliminates letters of F-L-A-M-E-S until one remains: Friends, Lovers, Affectionate, Marriage, Enemy, or Siblings. Switch to FLAMES mode above to try it.
Can I use the love calculator as a prank?
Sure — it's built for exactly that kind of fun. Just keep the disclaimer in mind: the result is a fixed name-based formula, not a real reading, so it's best used as a joke, not evidence in an argument.
How long will our love last according to the calculator?
This tool doesn't estimate duration — it only produces a love percentage (with a fun compatibility breakdown) or a FLAMES category. Neither is a timeline, and neither should be read as one.
Will I get the same result every time (is it deterministic)?
Yes. Both the percentage and FLAMES modes are fully deterministic — recalculating the same two names, today or next year, always gives the same result, regardless of which name you enter first.
